If there is one thing I am extraordinary great at; it’s shopping. I take pride in my skills of saving money, waiting for sales, and outsmarting stores by waiting for that dress I’m dying to have to get its price lowered a little. Even though I like to think of myself as an avid shopper and Queen of Steals I definitely fall into the trap of aesthetically pleasing things that I just don’t need, will never actually wear, or will promise myself I’ll use and never do. Here are the tricks I have learned throughout the years, and some tips on how to save money while shopping!

  1. Can You Dupe It? 99% of the time affordable stores like Forever 21, Windsor, Zaful, MakeMeChic, etc. feature styles that are essentially copycat of more expensive brands. If the item you’re dying to have is way out of your price range, check affordable places for similar styles, and chances are, they’ll have them! Sometimes quality is compromised when you go for cheaper alternatives, but if it’s a trendy item you probably won’t wear more then a few times then no harm, no foul ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here is one of my personal favorite dupes!

Zaful Tie-Front Bikini Set: $12.99 vs.ย Frankies Bikinis Greer Set $170

ย  ย  ย 2. ย The Outfit Test.ย This tactic has actually saved me from spending my money on A LOT of things. When I’m doing my usual daily online browsing and see something I love, I think to myself…is this something I can only wear in a certain season? Am I still going to like next year? Will I really wear it more than 5 times? If the answer is no, then I don’t buy it. If the answer is yes then I try to envision the outfit varieties I can make with the piece and really think if it’s worth it.

ย 3. Check Nordstrom Rack.ย Nordstrom Rack is basically the best store that was ever created. I can spend HOURS in there browsing all the amazing deals they have! Whenever I want something from a brand I generally can’t afford i.e. Free People, PAIGE, Wildfox, Jeffrey Campbell, etc. I always check Nordstrom Rack to see if it’s available there for a much better price! Sometimes the exact item I’m looking for isn’t available, but I always find something I like ๐Ÿ™‚ Here are some of my faves from Nordstrom Rack!

ย  ย  ย  4. Go to Sale Section First!ย I’ve mentioned this in a post before, but 99% of the time the sale section is where it’s at. It’s very hard to bypass all the beautiful newness a store has to offer, but if you are online shopping it’s much easier, trust me. The first thing I do when I online shop is I go right to the sale section, especially for stores that are more pricy. Don’t think that because it’s the sale section the items won’t be cute. Chances are they’re there in the first place because the store had the items WAY overpriced, and no one in their right mind would spend that. But you were the smartypants who waited for the item to go on sale and saved a buttload of money! Go you ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here are some of my favorite places with KILLER sale sections and pricy non-sale items lolol.

Princess Polly | Urban Outfitters | Lulu’s | Showpo

ย  ย  ย  ย 5. Plan What You Need.ย If there is anyone on this planet who is guilty of impulse buys it’s this girl. Even though I am on a budget and don’t have $75 to spend on shoes…I do sometimes. But hey, we have all been there at one point or another and I’m definitely working on my problem. To avoid this happening to you though, make sure before you go shopping you know what you need and you only have eyes for that. So when you see those beautiful $200+ purses in the window, know that you DO NOT NEED IT. Unless you like really do and that’s what you went to the mall for in the first place, but you get my point. Try your hardest to only get what you went for and nothing else. It might even help if you only bring a certain amount of cash with you and no credit or debit cards, so once you’re out of money you’re out.

I hope at least one person found these tips helpful, and I could save you some time and money! Let me know if you want more posts with advice like this! I would love to do them ๐Ÿ™‚

Let’s cut to the chase: I freaking love shopping and I can’t stop myself from buying cute things when I see them. I do have some self-control when I know I need to save or if bills are due, but for the most part I loveeeee shopping more than I should. It’s not a problem, it’s a way of life…for me at least. Shopping makes me happy because clothes make me happy. I love being able to feel confident and make a statement with my style, and shopping helps me do that! You might be wondering; “Dana, you’re known as ‘One Broke Blonde’, how can you do so much shopping?” Well my fine readers, I’ll let you in on some of my tips and tricks ๐Ÿ˜‰

This post is not sponsored by any brand or company mentioned. All opinions are my own ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. SHOP ON ย SALE ITEMS FIRST. This may be a no brainer, but as tempting as it is to check out new arrivals the sale section is where it’s at. Stores update their sale section regularly so you won’t be shopping all of the older items. A lot of stores have pretty awesome sale sections! Here are some of my favorite sale items from five of my favorite stores!

Missguided Dress | Princess Polly Romper | Luca + Grae Dressย | Tobi Dressย | Shop Love Street Shoesย

ย  ย  ย  2. WAIT FOR DISCOUNT CODES.ย I know it’s hard to wait for that adorable dress you’ve been eyeing up for two weeks, but stay strong! Big brands have site wide sales and discounts pretty regularly! If you can wait for that, then you can save a lot of cash on items you would’ve spent a lot more on! Patience is virtue, especially when it comes to shopping. Here are some of my favorite stores that almost ALWAYS have awesome sales going on!

Missguided | Tobi | Metal of Pearl |

3. GET HONEY.ย I bet you’re wondering what Honey is, and no I’m not talking about the delicious sweetener. Honey is basically the greatest invention ever. Essentially, all you need to do is install it into your browser, and whatever store you shop on Honey automatically finds discount codes and coupons to use so you always save money!! It’s so awesome and there are so many stores it works with too! It’s free and simple and I personally think that is a wonderful combination.

4. NORDSTROM RACK IS EVERYTHING. This should come as no surprise, but Nordstrom Rack is one of my fav stores ever. You can get big-name brands that are usually quite expensive for a much better price. Granted, there are some items that are still pricey but they are definitely better prices than the retail! One example is Calvin Klein apparel. Urban Outfitters (who I love but is ridiculously expensive) sells Calvin Klein bras for $28, but I got mine from Nordstrom Rack for $11.97.ย ๐Ÿ˜Žย Talk about a style steal! Here are some more of my favorite pieces from Nordstrom Rack on awesome sales!

Free People Tunic | Melrose and Market Top | Wildfox Topย | Lucky Brand Topย | Jeffrey Campbell Sandal

5. SIGN UP FOR PERKS. Getting tons of emails can be frustrating, but getting exclusive sales and offers makes it worth it. You don’t need to sign up for tons of reward programs, just pick your favorite stores you want to get perks from and they will be delivered right to your inbox! You’ll also be notified first when sales happen or other big events! I’ve scored a lot of awesome things from being a part of reward programs! Plus most stores offer a discount just for joining! It’s a super easy and efficient way to save you some money ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope this post was helpful to you guys and you’ll put these tips to good use! Remember, even though it is extremely important to save money and be financially stable it never hurts to treat yourself once in a while! Don’t be afraid to buy yourself some new things, you deserve them! If you’re hesitant though then try out these tips and I guarantee you’ll feel less guilty ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy shopping, babes!

It’s something that we are all guilty of one way or another. Maybe it’s that ratty t-shirt you have from 8th grade that brings back memories that you refuse to give away, or that sexy black dress you wore ONE TIME four years ago but swearrr you’re going to wear again soon. Let’s be real, you won’t. You’re not alone because I am guilty of this too. I always keep pieces of clothing and shoes that I haven’t worn in years but insist there will be a time that I want it and honestly, there never is. Since the season of renewal is among us, I though what better time to share my tips and tricks to make your wardrobe fun and fresh again!

  1. GET RID OF THAT OLD STUFFย ๐ŸŒธย Seriously.ย I know it’s difficult to part with that top you’ve had since 7th grade but girl, it’s time to let it go. If you’re just saving it for nostalgic purposes than that’s what pictures are for! There are too many new, fresh, trendy pieces to be had and those old things you never wear are just taking up unwanted residency.
  2. ORGANIZEย ๐ŸŒธ My mom is going to read this tip and think “Dana, your clothes are the least organized clothes in America.” And she’s right. But do not follow my lead with this one and instead just follow my advice. I know that having an organized closet would make me feel revamped and refreshed and I do plan on making that happen very soon I promise. In the meantime, you should try out this tip and start organizing your clothes! This is also a way to go through everything you have and give away/sell/donate the things you don’t wear or want anymore!
  3. TRY A NEW STYLE/TRENDย ๐ŸŒธ Is there a style you’ve been loving but have been too nervous to try it out for yourself? Felt like you “couldn’t pull it off?” Well you are fab and you can pull off anything you feel confident in and girl, you should try out whatever you’re feeling. There is no better time than the beginning of a new season to revamp your style and wardrobe!
  4. SHOP AWAYย ๐ŸŒธ Start shopping! Having little shopping sprees here and there is something I usually do so I don’t spend too much money all at once AND I score all the new arrivals in stores and online. Remember, try out your favorite trends but it’s also important to buy new staple pieces as well that will last you a while. New jeans, dresses, basic tees, tanks, jackets, etc. will make you feel new and fresh but will also last you longer than some trendier pieces will.
  5. HAVE FUNย ๐ŸŒธ Don’t turn a wardrobe freshener into a chore. Make it a fun and exciting project for yourself. Don’t feel guilty about buying that cute romper online or feel bad about picking up some new jeans. You deserve to feel confident, beautiful, and happy at all times and if buying new things can do that for you so be it!

I hope you guys got some tips and tricks from this post and will use them to revamp your closet! I know that the thought of organization and cleaning seems hard and boring (trust me), but once you do it you’ll feel so much better! Plus rewarding yourself with a shopping spree is pretty fun too ๐Ÿ˜‰

The holidays have been over and done with for almost a month now, can you believe it?! Before we know it it’ll be summer, which honestly can’t come soon enough. With the holiday season coming to a close comes a lot of sales, and a lot of shopping. You guys know that I’m a sucker for both of those things. When I know a sale is going on at my favorite stores, I have to stock up on the things I’ve had my eye on for a while ๐Ÿ˜‰ Recently I did some shopping at American Eagle, UrbanOG, Nordstrom Rack, and Forever 21! Here’s what I picked up ๐Ÿ™‚ I am IN LOVE with everything I bought, so thankfully there is no buyers remorse because that’s just the worst.

As you guys know I prefer to show you guys what my purchases look like styled on me, but for this quick post I decided to just share the online pics and links with you. I hope this post gave you some fashion inspiration! I’ll see you soon with a new post!

I think it’s pretty safe to say that online shopping is a thrill that everyone loves to enjoy every once in a while. I on the other hand enjoy online shopping more than the average person I believe. Shopping online is just so much more fun, convenient, and the feeling of getting a package in the mail makes an ordinary day feel like Christmas. There are also a decent amount of stores that are only featured online so you have no choice but to online shop (which is totally fine with me). Since online shopping is such a huge part of how I get my clothes, I decided to share my top five places to shop online! Some stores are strictly online only and some are regular stores as well. One thing they have in common though is they are all affordable because that’s how your girl rolls ๐Ÿ˜‰

Forever 21

This one is pretty obvious because I feel like everyone between the ages of 13-30 has a thing for this place. Forever 21 not only has affordable prices, but they also have some of the cutest/trendiest pieces! I feel like at least 50% or more of my wardrobe is from Forever because I constantly find myself on the website browsing then falling in love with an item so I obviously have to get it. It’s a vicious cycle but since the clothes are affordable I don’t feel as guilty ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are some of my favorites featured on the site now!

UrbanOG

This store has quickly become my shopping destination for shoes. They are so affordable, so cute, and really comfortable! I love that their shoes are always up to date with the latest trends, and they also feature cheaper alternatives to more expensive brands! I have quite a few pairs of shoes from here and I’m never disappointed! UrbanOG also always has amazing sales going on and features some cute clothes as well!

Check out my favorites here!

Make Me Chic

I recently discovered this store while I was browsing the web a few weeks ago and I have to say I’m impressed! They offer really affordable pieces that are also super cute as well! I haven’t ordered anything from this site yet so I can’t say how the quality is, but I plan on trying it out soon! I featured some adorable pieces from this store in my “Best Trends of 2016” post!

Here are some of my faves from the site that I might try out soon ๐Ÿ™‚

Tobi

Tobi is such an awesome store for so many reasons. Not only are their clothes fairly priced, but they are almost always on sale AND if you haven’t shopped there before you get 50% off your first order! Tobi is the place to shop if you’re looking for a dress that’s made well, but also affordable. Tobi also offers really cute tops, outerwear, bottoms, and accessories!

Here are some of my faves on the site that you should check out!

ASOS

Asos has been a go-to store of mine for years now. I loveee that their prices range from affordable to high end so there is so much to choose from. Their clothes and the brands they offer are always really comfortable, trendy, and just the cutest. A good ASOS shopping spree makes me really happy. They also have a lot of punny t-shirts which is where basically all of mine are from ๐Ÿ™‚

These are my favorites right now!

I hope this post has helped you find some new stores to shop at! Let me know what your favorite online stores are in the comments! Thank you so much for reading, I love you all! xoxo
